Each summer, the Science Center’s Youth Exploring Science (YES) Program’s Teens bring fun and accessible STEM learning experiences all over the St. Louis area hoping to inspire a curiosity for science and technology. This year, University City Public Library welcomes the YES Teens to the youth service department and encourages you to get hands-on with science!

If you’ve read at least an hour in our Summer Reading Program, then you have earned your ticket to the Family Swim at the Heman Park Pool! Enjoy free admission with your certificate starting at 5:30 p.m. and swim until 7 p.m. Just one more way that we want to thank you for being a reader!

Earn-A-Computer is a hands-on class that introduces young people ages 8 to 17 to the inner workings and possibilities of computers and the internet — all while getting set to take home a refurbished computer upon successful completion of the course. After completing a consecutive series of six (90-minute) classes digging into everything from online safety to programming and presentation-building, students receive a refurbished computer of their very own.
Students who commit to this series will meet for six Tuesday mornings, beginning each week at 10 a.m. (with each class ending at 11:30 a.m.). The first class meeting is Tuesday, June 11, and graduation day (the final class, when students will present what they’ve learned and take their computers home!) will be Tuesday, July 16. Students must attend all six consecutive classes to earn their computer.
This course will take place at University City Public Library, located at 6701 Delmar Blvd, University City, MO 63130. A parent/guardian must attend the first 15 minutes of the first of the six classes. We limit each family to two registrants per session, and students must be between the ages of 8-17.
The operating system we install is Linux Mint OS (not Windows or Mac OS).
This camp is currently full. Thank you for your interest!
