Accessibility

UCPL’s audiobook collection is equipped with Braille labels for our visually impaired patrons. UCPL staff members have also been trained in assisting visually impaired persons, and will be happy to escort patrons throughout the Library.

UCPL offers home delivery services for patrons with disabilities that prevent them from visiting the Library, as well as for those living in University City’s senior living facilities. For more information, visit the Services for Seniors page of our website, or contact David at 314-727-3150.

Public Computer #1 is equipped with JAWS screen-reading software. This computer station is also built to be raised and lowered to accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices. It is large enough to accommodate two people.

An accessible computer joystick is available for use at any of UCPL’s public computers. Ask at the front desk if you’d like to use it.

UCPL has a large-print book collection of fiction and non-fiction titles. All books in this collection feature fonts that are size 14 or larger.

A tabletop magnifier, as well as handheld magnification glasses, are available for use at all times the Library is open. Ask for assistance at the reference desk if you’d like to use either.

UCPL has partnered with Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library to provide direct services for visually impaired patrons within University City. Please call our reference librarians at 314-727-3150 for more information on getting a Wolfner application.
