Join us June 19 for Educating University City: Tracing the History of U City Schools through Decades of Change. This panel discussion will ask past and present students, teachers, and administrators to reflect on the ways in which the School District of University City has responded to changes and challenges over the past several years, including desegregation, embracing different cultures and religious beliefs, and accommodating immigrant populations. Panelists will include Dr. Sharonica Hardin-Bartley, superintendent of the School District of University City; Dr. Tracy Hinds, coordinator of language arts and social studies for the district; and Linda Thompson, a retired elementary teacher in the district. Jim Kirchherr, a producer for Living St. Louis on KETC Channel 9 and a University City resident, will moderate the discussion.

The event is free and open to all.

Kennedy coming together from different points of view to investigate the idea of a unifying American creed. Their spirited inquiry frames the stories of citizen-activists striving to realize their own visions of America’s promise across deepening divides. A discussion will follow the screening, moderated by Cathy Griner, a teacher consultant at the Gateway Writing Project, specializing in American Creed-themed projects.

The event is free and open to all.
